2011 What Do You Want Added To The BYC Forum & WebSite?

I would like to go exactly to the place in a long thread where I posted something rather than just being directed to the thread. For example if I posted pics in Lavendar Orpingtons thread, I don't want to go through hundreds of pages, is there anyway to have that information posted? If I'm not clear, please pm me. Thanks!

I would also like to be able to go to my last post in a thread. This would avoid flipping through the pages until I found my last post, so I can continue reading from there.

I would like to see a mandatory new member thing where they sign up, and they are immediately taken to a place that has three - six threads that are most important for newbs to view. and, they have to read each thread, or at least the first page of each thread before they can start posting in the main area. this might just cut back on the excess of "advice for a newbie" "i just got chicks, what do I do now?" "how do I build a coop?" "what breed is the most perfect breed?" etc that we see over and over and over again. And yes, I was a newb once too. But, I read and searched before I even started posting, and if I posted something that had been answered somewhere, it's because I searched for it and couldn't find it. This won't totally resolve the issues, but at least it should help cut down on the number of repeat posts we see

Hi,
I just used the Breed Finder, and it is great! I have one suggestion- could you please add in the breed status from American Livestock Breed Conservancy - i.e., Buckeye chickens are considered "critical", Delawares are considered "threatened", and so on? This would be helpful since I haven't yet bought my chickens, but I would also like to contribute to heritage breed survival by considering status in my choice.

I would like to see consideration of forming local / regional BYC clubs and /or any suggestions on how to set them up. I think if we all had local clubs to go to and share ideas beyond the board post and be able to see how others do their setups, promoting tours, helping pass local legislation, etc. I think it would expand the whole BYC experience. Sort of like some of the Jeep clubs. As far as how this site could benefit, by using the BYC name a nominal yearly dues could be paid to BYC. I really think it could make the BYC movement explode. It's all in the marketing!!!

Really that's the kind of thing that doesn't need 'official' sanction - start a regional club and ask for donations and be sure BYC gets them.

I did that for my rat board- except its only once a year.

I'll set something up for the chicken ppl soon.

(no live animals at my events due to bio-security - sorry)

Yes and no

Yes something like that, but no, not a quiz. Instead, set it up so the system won't let you post until you read those threads. Kind of like its a limited membership until you read them. Or at least open them all

, and then it releases the membership/account/whatever to a regular standard one
