2012 ... hype or possibility? NOT A DOOMSDAY RANT!

Just to update the post I made above:

Yesterday was a solar tsunami according to NOAA with aurora borealis visible way down into Northern America. Big sun spot solar flare.

According to NASA it was a huge storm on the sun which essentially gave us a pretty light show and that was it. No reports of any real disturbances in satellite activity or anything that I have heard. Again the issue is solar cycle 24.

Like alot of other "predictive" issues no one really knows for sure. And even when one does happen (like happened yesterday) how it is reported can make it sound very different! There is very cool video of the event on the sun and the lights in northern America on the spaceweather.com site. Did it really do anything? Not really.

Life as you know it today ended yesterday. The world is in constant flux, sometimes in ways that make life easier for us fragile humans and sometimes in ways that make us attempt to prove ourselves more worthy of survival than the cockroach. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. My family is working on being more independent for moral and financial reasons having nothing to do with the bible (don't believe a word of it anyway) and more to do with our relationship with each other and the planet we occupy. So maybe global warming is natural? What happens if we do what we can to make the world a better place with less pollution and it was all a hoax?

People have predicted the end of days since the beginning of days. I suspect the planet should be getting pretty tired of this parasite around now. Maybe she'll shrug it off and let a sentient life form evolve!

How did these Mayans figure out that the center of the Milky Way was there in Sagittarius? How did they figure out that the earth, sun and galactic center would align long after their demise on that particular date in the future? To me that is the whole significance of that date. European culture believed the world was flat and that the universe revolved around us while these "wild heathens" were plotting the spin of the Milkyway based on the orbits of the planet Venus! And Montezuma thought Cortez was a God? Seeing it from this perspective, I highly doubt that modern man has grasped the cosmology of these ancient people yet.

I think the world as we know it will end when Boyd and JetBlack and minions start battling each other for the title "Supreme Evil Being of the Universe". That'll change everything more than menopause.

The way I think about it,
The Grecian calender (the one we use) runs out every 12 months... The myans made their calender 2000ish years long, maybe the guy just got sick of etching? And wrote "Profound Change" meaning "Somone will need to change this system because it just took me 10 years to etch this stupid calendar!" I mean if our calendar runs out every 12 months and we just start back at the beginning why would the myan calendar be any different?

And if worse comes to worse, I've got my chickens and my dogs and my family and

Is it the 12th or the 21st? I have the movie and it says both dates. I think the package says the 12th and in the movie they talk about the 21st or visa versa.

Either way, I'm planning a Christmas preparation party with my friends on the 21st. We'll drink hot chocolate, wrap presents, make all kinds of candies, cookies, and sweets and maybe even watch humanity go down the drain!
