2013 SEED/PLANT/GARDENING SWAP

I didn't plan on making people get cleared on this thread. I am sure I will hear about it if someone doesn't receive their swap claim. I am not a huge control freak, so I like to work somewhat on the honor system. You make your own bed, you know?

I do think it is a good idea to state whether the seeds you are offering are commercial or if you collected them yourself and if they are organically grown. I don't expect anyone here to be registered by the USDA as an organic grower, but if you abstain from pesticides and chemical fertilizers, its good enough for me.

I will revise the rules.

P.S. I don't know if I stated it on my swap page, but all of the seeds that I offer are organically grown and collected by me.

All of my seed is heirloom ans i am orgabic with all my plants. When i can start digging starts i will have strawberry ive had them 3 years not sure what their name is, and black raspberry they were here when we moved in and possibly red raspberry.

Let me know please. I need a bunch of pots, lol. At least 10 and probably many, many more. I want to maybe keep potted strawberries, but my herbs for sure have to be potted!

I found 6. Shipping is going to run a good bit more on these than on your soap, so make me an offer

I like coconut & oatmeal/milk/honey the best.

That's a gallon bottle beside them for reference.

CURRENT OFFER
Mine: PP ([email protected])

Offer: 1. Variegated Wormwood Artemisia (2 cuttings with roots)
2. check out the plants and seeds on my swap page: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/renees-member-page
3. One cutting of my rick-rack cactus which is a dragonfruit plant (I haven't had any luck getting it to fruit) and an epiphyllum.
(this an example of a rick rack cactus, this is not my actual rick rack cactus, I don't have time to take a picture of mine right now because I have to meet my horse's chiropractor at the barn in 30 min. This is exactly like my rick rack cactus except that mine is much more lopsided because I keep taking cuttings from it.)

Variegated artemisia. Full sun to part shade, tolerates drought once established, good for erosion control. Again, not mine, but same cultivar, gotta run!

In addition to the above, this is what's on my swap page:

this is a succulent plant, plectranthus canina, which can be used outside in your garden to keep small animals away. It doesn't spread or take over, but It is very easy to root, so one plant could turn into several cuttings in a very short time. And it has no problem being dug up and brought in as a winter houseplant. It likes sun or shade, doesn't care. It flowers all summer. I love this plant.

Cissus Quadrangularis/Veldt Grape This plant is a vining succulent in the grape family which looks really cool in a hanging basket (it needs to come in for the winter, or you could keep it as a houseplant all year round, it won't care) and I am led to believe has some sort of medicinal properties and is made into some sort of Chutney in Indian cooking. This plant is also easy to root.

This is variegated water clover, it grows along a runner on the bottom of your pond or other water feature and sends these leaves up to the surface where they do a good job of providing cover for your fish and keeping down the algae.

I also have some limelight artemisia (wormwood). This is a perennial and its hardy in zones 3-9. It is really good for erosion control, takes very little upkeep and looks great. I like to use it on the side of a bank where I don't feel like putting vetch and its too sunny for vinca. Its a nice change from other groundcovers because its upright and its got this beautiful variegated foliage. It needs very little water once established and it takes full sun to part shade. It grows up to 2' tall.

I also have some yellow flag irises which are around my pond, but they'll grow just about anywhere. I will send about 3 large rhizomes or 5 smaller ones.

This is Callisia repens or Bolivian Jew. Its in the wandering jew family, but it has very small leaves. I love it as a "groundcover" for my potted plants. It only grows very shallow roots, so they don't interfere with the roots of the larger plant and it helps keep moisture in the rootball of the potted plant, plus it adds interest to the surface of the soil. I will send one clum with about 7-10 stems. Put it right into the soil and keep it moist, or root it in some water, It is super easy to root.

I HAVE SOME HEIRLOOM SEEDS:
I will send any grouping of these seeds that you like, pick 50 seeds.

1. Tomatoes- I have a mix of tomatoes that I grew myself from crack and heat resistant varieties (I can only do 10 of these at a time, but germination is almost 100%)

2. Dill- this is a variety called mammoth dill, grown organically and hand collected by myself.

3. Bronze fennel- This is a beautiful perennial. It has a bronze color to the foliage and Black swallowtail butterflies love this stuff for laying their eggs. This is the plant that you grow when you want fennel seeds for seasoning.

4. Green bulbing fennel (Florence Fennel)- This is the stuff that you grow to use as a vegetable. The bottom grows into a bulbous structure that is used in a lot of Mediterranean cooking.

5. Green OXacan corn- This is a gorgeous corn which can be used as an ornamental or ground into a very cool looking flour.

6. Purple Perilla- this is an asian herb which is like a mix of mint, basil and oregano with a little sesame undertone. It is very good when pickled Korean style. As an added bonus, these are a beautiful bright purple/burgundy color that looks great tucked into a flower garden or adds color to your herb garden.

7. Double Black Datura- Devils Trumpet, this is a gorgeous flower with dark purple double, trumpet shaped flowers and black stems, really pretty.

all parts of this Gorgeous plant are poisonous, so if you have little ones around, you may want to keep that in mind when ordering these seeds. I keep them in a planter on the front steps where the chickens and kids can't reach.

8. Philodendron Scandens Variegated: I have a cutting of this uniquely variegated pothos with heart shaped leaves which is already rooted and ready to go.
