2014 breeding season begins, post your results

The dirtier/nastier you let that incubator get birdrain, the less successful hatches you will have with it. ESPECIALLY when incubating Peafowl eggs, guaranteed.

Also, in general most LGs do not stay stable/maintain stable temps or RH for more than a coupe yrs, so if I were you I would not put all your eggs in one basket, so to speak.

So so so much to learn. I wish you the best of luck tho, really I do.

My incubator works really well for me. I usually only have none, 1 or 2 eggs not hatch. Jadea's first batch were the only down rate. I've incubated 2 wild turkey eggs both hatched, bunches of duck eggs, wild duck eggs only have two not hatch, Indian Runner ducks all hatch out, chickens every clutch I incubate there's only one egg that doesn't want to hatch and peafowl other than Jadea only one egg. First clutch I incubated for peafowl eggs was a group of 3 and 2 hatched out. IMHO I think this incubator is awesome. Also reason why I don't do lockdown is because I know that a hen will get off her nest to eat and drink, I don't think a hen would just stay on her nest and not eat or drink until are her eggs hatch. My IR duck would get off her nest to eat and drink everyday and rotate her eggs. I don't rotate the egg when the chick is peeping and pecking, though my hen still rotates them and she was able to hatch out cute ducklings of her own. I know the thread is suppose to be about peafowl and but I just felt like everybody should see the cute little ducklings. There are 2 male and 2 female ducklings.

Thank you all! My incubator has been keeping stable temp ever since I started using it and I've had it for at least 5 years. There's no light bulb in my incubator if that's what you mean by LGs. Mine just uses electricity to heat up the metal rods to give off heat in the incubator and Styrofoam is great when insulating heat if you keep it sealed up.

Peeps, you are right on about them LG"s. I threw 2 or three in the garbage years ago. You would think they would be the same as hovabators as similar as they are. But they sure arent. Blew my mind along time ago. I still run hovabators and love them. I just hatched out some pea babies from a white girl and green boy today. (3 outta 6 haha) but Im waiting to see what comes out of a green hen and green boy. I have 4 eggs from her I just put in a couple days ago. I mainly incubate duck eggs and those incubators sure have been good. I like the ones with the fans the best.
