Then catalpa might not be ideal either. But it grows fast, has big leaves for shade, sweet blossoms, and caterpillars the chickens can eat like it. The leaves and bean pods might be a mess.

I miss my catalpa tree, the flowers are like orchids and there where huge clusters of them. But gosh what a mess with the huge seed pods and the leaves in the Fall.

But then again those huge green leaves were rather exotic looking ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Those are cool!

I seem to recall it was some evil temperature of -22c brrrr! And they had no covered parking so I had to dig old Blue out of the snow guess where my boots were?! In Blue ice cold 😳

Oooo good Reenie I forgot to put her stall guard on when I opened her door. Bad Kelly….

It’s musical roosts tonight.

Georgie is once again broody, I give up. They want to be broody I’ll let them be broody. No more babies.
Dealing w/broody Silkies for 15 yrs ~ it doesn't bother us. We've been breaking broody Silkies & don't fall for their determination. Some we break in less than a week... others take longer... but we've never submitted to giving them eggs or chicks.

Our friend who rescued a couple of our accidental shipped cockerels & a hen moved to Nevada but was out here for a 2-day visit ~ said they rescued 4 turkeys just before Thxgiving. Being vegan, they find forever-only homes for the birds they rescue.

Here's some BFTP past pics of our rehomed birds to our Nevada friend:

She was happier in the car than with Santa.

This morning Eve asked to see pictures of baby Aurora. I had to tell her we did not get Aurora as a chick, she was a little girl. Then we watched these videos.

Their first day with us.

Their first dust bath.
TY ~ The chickie chirps are wonderful to hear❣️

Back at it with the cat... Resting his head on my father's leg.

I don't have any photos of the chickens and I didn't even bother looking in the shed. They were in there all day because of how cold it is. Maybe I should get them a heating pad, even one for the cat. It's 15 F but it feels like 1 F. On Thursday, it's supposed to be 52 F. Major change in the temperature.

Be safe, sounds like you’re also getting bad weather.

Getting a long look at her face, in motion, so much better than a still picture. What a pretty gal!
I think she was happier in the car than with Santa though.

She never disappoints!
