2014 breeding season begins, post your results

Because my peafowl ruled the coop and then she went to a brooding attitude and hid under the nesting boxes and I didn't notice until I had hens standing around pecking on her. She has her own barn and pen to herself and continuing for at least 2 or 3 weeks. She will be by herself til her head is healed. I had no where to separate them til today anyway. Rather I let Thora eat my rooster or Colbolt eat my rooster, the water is outside and the food on the inside so I can't just lock the rooster outside because I would dehydrate my peafowl and starve my chickens. At least now I know peahens and chickens don't go good together.

First peachick hatched out tonight here and as I predicted over a month ago,it was from my BSSP pen. It has a black streak down it's back so it's either going to be a pied,or it might be from my Peach hen but that I highly doubt. Tomorrow will be first Merlot Hatch a-long day here. And it's a National Holiday too.

I got back from my trip yesterday and today I went to eat dinner with Aaron and then get the incubator with the Burmese eggs back from him. I just candled them when I got home, and I am afraid that both are no good!!! Egg # 1, which I set a day before egg # 2, seems to smell and at 10 days of incubation it is looking dark...Like dark as in hard to see the top dark.

Egg # 2 looks pretty much clear and I noticed that the air sack is messed up from shipping.

I was so hopping at least one would hatch for me.

So what do you all think? Do they sound bad? I am pretty sure they are no good the more I think about it...I guess I don't want to except that egg # 1 smells but it does have a slight smell to it and when I picked up the eggs from Aaron he said it had recently started to smell.

I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, but I really did!

A smelly egg is bad, sure would not want it messing up your incubator, eggs musta been pretty old to smell so quickly.
