2014 breeding season begins, post your results

It looks possible that the hen is not sp, but definitely BS. It's likely then that the chick is out of that pen. If it was out of the cameo pen, it would have been cameo, no doubts now. Maybe your opal BS sp hen is only BS pied split opal. Blackshoulder hens have a great deal of white other already, and given that both pied and sp add more white, it's possible there was a mix up. How long have you had these birds? The male looks opal, but I'm only going by the colour of the neck, which is an opal colour when you compare it with the vibrant blue of an Indian blue BS sp.

I got them almost 3 months ago, its my first time to deal with a bs sp peafowls, i'm sure the male is opal but i can't be sure about the hens, the hens got a lot of white and some gray color on their backs. i have a regular opal bs hen she don't have whites like these hens.

I will check my camera to see if i have more pics for the hens.

Your chick does not look cameo at all but they can sometimes fool you. I see no reason to believe that the opal male is not BS either so the chick is a conundrum. The biggest factor in my mind is that the chick appears to have ZERO white anywhere on it and it would if it came out of that opal pen That hen sure looks pied/silverpied. Hopefully you get some more chicks from the opal pen to confirm and then you just have to figure out where the chick came from. You might want to pull the wing tag numbers on the opals and just have Brad check.

Okay it's now time for our "Sexing at 24hrs" class. Also both these chicks are from BSSP Peacocks,,one on the left is Roadtrips, one on the right is from my Purple BSSP. Look at the one on the left,,i'm hoping he or she could be a peach???

Wings please not just the head and back. This should be fun for me, I've never seen Purple or Peach peachicks before. Spalding will be even more fun haven't had much experience with them unlike the Indian peafowl.
