Mine are good layers, an egg a day.  They slow down to an egg every other day in the Winter.  I don't put a light or anything with them.  The best thing about Orps, in my opinion, is their friendly personable nature.  Even the roosters are friendly!

Mmmm, food for thought. I will definately look into it. Thank you. Now I'll just have to work out how to get them past my husband , who's been out putting up another fence to keep the coro's off the garden.
