2014 Hatchery Chick Orders

They are! There is one or two small ones and I am kind of worried about them because the bigger ones run into them and they sometimes get run over, but they are eating and drinking so that is a good sign! I am thinking ordering from cackle isn't a good thing for us because it is four states over and too long of a trip. I think I am going to pick some chicks up from my local tsc when they get them in and add them in with the bunch I have now. I can't believe I am saying this, but I hope I actually get a rooster. I want one so I can hatch some out next year instead of having to buy them. The only rooster I have now is a banty and I don't want anymore of them running around.

I love hatching out chicks from my flock. I'm into the whole genetics thing and love guessing the odds of getting a certain looking bird. Just be prepared to have a lot of roosters. I hatched a batch of chicks in January and I got 34 chicks and 24 of them ended up being roosters. Good thing is I was able to sell them all.

Ok so my chicks are going to be a week old tomorrow! 25 out of 26 have made it. The 4 pullets I have that I hatched myself should be going outside tomorrow morning so I can have brooder room for Tractor Supply Chicks

. Hoping for some heavy breeds or broilers from there.
Haha that is funny! I am getting some from my TSc too! They said they are coming in on the 28th which is in three days. I am hoping they get a breed I want and that they won't be too small compared to mine that I got the same day you did!

I ordered:

1. Assorted silkie pullet chick

2. EE pullet chick

3. Wc black polish pullet chick

4. Olive egger

I am getting them from MPC for April 28th!

My Ideal chicks are two weeks old and great!! Barnevelders, Gold and Silver laced Wyandottes. The website said no til May or June but they called as soon as barnies were available. They are located in Texas but all the way across and this is a BIG state. Still came overnight with reasonable shipping charges and in great health.

We spent yesterday setting up for the 2 and 3 week old chicks to move outside, they spent the night out in their new pen and did great. Then, we had another cold front come in and they are back in tonight, until probably Thursday...then we bought 8 new chicks and 2 ducks at TSC today BEFORE we decided to move the other guys back in and have another order coming next week on Wednesday...its getting a little overwhelming here, by our own doing. This is our first time with ducks and I'm wishing we wouldn't have gotten them and its only been 6 hours!

Our TSC hasn't gotten any meat birds in yet which is probably just as well since our packing peanut roosters from Ideal are getting HUGE.
