2014 New York Chickenstock

Gramma-- Is rose of Sharon a vining plant?

It's a tree or shrub in the Hibicus family. Comes in white, blue (purple) and pink.  There is a Double flower variety that I think is sterile.

The variety I have is very weedy, but can be controlled easily by cutting down the sprouts.

Oh, I love this!!

Can I get on the list for one?

Rose of Sharon are not stellar for bees - they develop VERY late in the season - you may even think the thing died over the winter it is so late to leaf and flower out - good if you want some spring light to shine through it to others in the springs and use as shade in the hotter months.

Also - they do NOT seedling or seed true to color -and the blue-ish purple almost never has the color come back in the offspring - so just be aware as you plant you most likely will get white flowers.

I put the rose of sharon against my barn on the west side - so in the spring when everyone like more light and heat - they are barely starting ... and in the summer when everyone wants shade and cool - they are leafed out and starting to flower.

Lapeerian - I will take a pic of the halter and all my horse stuff and post next week ... I don't have anyone interested in them yet - so won't take unless there is interest - you don't HAVE to buy if you touch it and decide it is not for you - but if no one is slightly interested - I've got too much else to bring to fiddle with it :)

So will post it all up early next week for all you all to mull over.

No prob ... and it is ok if no one is interested or just says maybe - so bring it - I just want to know as like others ... I am starting to make a little Chickenstock Pile !

My list of what I'm bringing:

Black Copper Marans straight run chicks, not sure about eggs. Possibly some sexed pullets.
If they aren't sold before, a quad of Wheaten/blue wheaten Marans (I''m concentrating on my Birchens)
Possible Brabanter eggs, from AOP tested neg. parents. AOP is an arthritic type of disease that seems to be prolific in Brabanters for some reason.
Silkies eggs, Porcelain probably, & a couple of silver partridge project chicks.
Pair of FREE paint silkies
Lots of Lav Orpington Chicks. I might sell in pairs, haven't decided yet.
Maybe a Sebastapol goose egg or 2. Depends on how many hatch before then.
Coronation Sussex eggs and/or straight run chicks. Plus I have some young roos.
Cayuga duck trio if not sold before and/or duckings & eggs.

I, as well, won't bring the larger items, like the quad of Wheatens or duck trio, if I don't have interest/payment before the day.

I'm looking for:
Guineas, eggs or chicks
Khaki Campbell ducks, eggs or babies
colored Sebastapols, eggs or goslings

Not climbers ...they are small summer trees will be about the size of liliacs ...when mature ..Still want some ?
they will be seedlings about 3- 5 inches high ..maybe just a couple each ...I will divide them based on what I have & who wants some
You are on my list ..
Like just sweets ? You can do Fruit sweetened right ?
I think I will try to play with a apple betty dessert ...recipe .to see if I can make it sugar free & gluten free ...

Bring something you can eat too
Gramma I had Gastric Bypass in January due to excessive acid production ate a huge hole in the bottom of my stomach and am not allowed sugar I can eat fresh fruit but as far as sugar I can have splenda or artificial sweeteners. I only eat a small amount per meal total for my whole meal is 1/2 a cup that all my pouch will hold but I can eat meats, salads, veges, and such just very small amounts. As far as drinks I can drink sugar free diet juices or water I mainly stick with water but on occasion I do drink diet ocean spray blueberry or cran grape juice. I am sure their will be plenty there I can eat I just don't want anyone feeling bad that I don't like their food if I only take a little bit it is just because I can't eat anymore than a little bit at a time.
