2014 New York Chickenstock

i'm trying to decide which breed of a rooster out of the ones I like would give me the most options with egg colors.
if I get wheaten ameraucanas and black copper maran hens should I ask the person selling me those for a rooster..
OR would it be better to just wait and see if sonew123 has any available because if I understand correctly, then I might be able to get olive eggs if I mix them?
sorry the newb question.. egg color thing is new for me, we always just bought chicks from the local feed store the previous times ive had them

FOR SALE!!!

I suggest contacting these members asap as most of us will only be bringing items that we know people want, have ordered, or have pre-paid for. If you would like me to add your items to this list please PM me what you are offering and what your asking price is as it is difficult for me to include all thread posts of what people have, plus I don't want to assume that people want me re-posting their offers. This will be updated as PMs come in and every so often so you don't have to dig...

They are not yet laying. Got them in Feb or was it March. I can't give you pics since I need to clean the pool they are in. No one here was expected to clean them while I was away so I'm not upset. Amazing how much things can change in two weeks. Oh, they're Blue Swedish.

Anyone know what age ducks begine to lay and how to tell these guys/gals apart. I expected them to be smaller. Not quite Call size but not Goose size either. Though I expect Geeses are bigger still.

This thing with DW has got me freaking out. She on the other hand is like a Duck. Calm on top, but paddling like heck underneath.
i would say $10ish each based on the prices around here but maybe someone who sells more can chime in

Ill bring bottles water as well...I typically drink a gallon a day

...Is it possible just MAYBE that the total, list of what people have and are bringing can be posted Thursday before stock?? This way we all know what our jobs are?? Lol i dont want to forget anything;(..
I have my list of CCL buyers...As they hatch here Ill put them in groups and post a pm to the person so I can get them all paid for before bringing all of them!! Lol thats alot of birds !!! Hahaha

So far HORSEKEEPER I have your 3 roos ...they are 4 weeks old right now...
CHICK IN I have your extra roo as well...just waiting to hatch your trio as well...
i drink that much too, i usually travel will a couple gallons in my car all the time :)

It's a tree or shrub in the Hibicus family. Comes in white, blue (purple) and pink. There is a Double flower variety that I think is sterile.

The variety I have is very weedy, but can be controlled easily by cutting down the sprouts.

I wouldn't expect to see eggs from them until Aug/Sept. Them might lay through the winter, they might not. At this age you should be able to tell who is who from their voices. Ducks quack, drakes don't. Drakes will also get a curly tail feather.
I understand your stress when it comes to the wife, Danielle is going in for a biopsy next Friday. She's stressed out and I'm the calm one. It's usually the other way around.

On another note, I will have runner duck hatching eggs available for the picnic. I'm only bringing what is pre sold and can do 2 maybe 3 dozen. They'll be $20dz. I'll also have runners hatching in 11 days so if anyone is interested let me know. $10ea straight run. These will be the only ducklings I have for sale this year, nothing else until fall when I'll let adult pairs go.

Less than 1 month!!!
I'll be getting some SLW due to hatch April 21 from Morrisville, anyone going to have similar aged chicks? Be easier for me to integrate into the main flock. Don't need show quality, must be good layers. Need EE.
Metella, do you have a pic of the leather/silver halter?

Ok..I guess I need to ask a favor...i had a list going and now cant find it:( PLEASE pm me if I asked to get something from you...chicks...eggs...or plants...Dont worry about pming me about the ccls im hatching i have that list!! I just need to know what to bring and how much room I need for the trip home!! I can recall asking about a few kinds of plants...day old chicks marans I believe is all I asked for and dark marans eggs??

Im starting to pool all my chickenstock items to get ready so I dont forget!!!

I planted my Rose of Sharons near my garden in an effort to draw bees, but the first year they bloomed there there few if any bees. I was very disappointed. Even now there are not many bees. Hornets I got bees no.

If you have an area that is not being used, please clear it out and just toss some wild flower seeds and let them grow. Save the bees.

I looked into getting a hive but it's work I can't do and money I don't have. One quote from a guy on CL was $350.

We'll see how sonew's hatches go between now and then. If she does not hatch enough I have one cockerel left out of her eggs. He is available for sale if you need him.
