2014 Stockton CA pre-sale

Yes they were shipped. I had 2 other people tell me 100% fertile on shipped and some went further than his. Spoke to me with such a language that I just didn't want to deal with him.
I'm not going deal with that person anymore even though he wants more eggs.(Dont know why if according to his words my fertility is S**t)
anyways I'm glad to hear they are doing great:D I dont think I gave you my business card but I'll send you a PM:)

I recently had "one of those" as well. Even after I told them No Guarantees. Would not leave us alone. I have many satisfied people that have hatched my eggs over the years. How am I supposed to know how he runs his incubator? How do we know he doesn't leave the eggs in the dash of the car in the hot sun? I kept his info and marked it " Do not do business with" just in case he harasses again.

I totally agree.. I sold them as extras for half the price as they were a couple days old. I even gave him the newest eggs. Oh well sometimes the crazy ones come by.

Hi this is for our northern Nevada peeps still wanting to buy and sell birds locally... the Northern Nevada Poultry Fanciers Association (NNPFA like us on Facebook!) begins their monthly Sunday swap fundraisers in March at 1 Stop Ranch and Feed ( also Chick Days at 1 Stop Ranch is SATURDAY FEB 22..purchase chick starter get some free chicks!!) I will be there with an info and membership booth for NNPFA and our local Feathered Friends 4-h club

Swap dates so far:
March 23
April 27
May 18

Anyone can buy or sell their own birds or donate birds to the club. We just ask for a donation to our club if you are selling at the swaps.

We take all healthy unwanted roosters with a $5 donation to the club and we try to rehome them.

All proceeds are used to purchase the Youth awards at our annual NNPFA show in October in Fallon which is rapidly growing more popular!

Will you be having a presale page like this one where people list what they will have available? It takes just over an hour for me to get to Reno and I doubt that I would bring birds unless I basically had already sold them. Plus, I wouldn't drive that far on the chance of finding something I would be interested in. I would need to know for sure first.

What is it about shipped eggs that affects development rate?

Thanks for answering a newbie's question!
There are many things that can go wrong, but mostly its all the jostling. When eggs are bounced around the air sac can rupture . Also, X-rays, air compression and extreme temperatures (hot and cold) can damage eggs.

People should expect 50% hatch rate on shipped eggs and so much of the success really depends on how the eggs were packed and labeled. Boxes should be plastered with Fragile stickers. If a box is battered by the PO, you can put in a claim with the PO for up to $50, more if box is additionally insured.
