2015 August hatch-a-long!!

If you are having cold weather or they got really cold in an AC room, it might affect them. If they are that close to hatch and no date mixups, then I can't imagine that a brief temp flux inside an insulated box would compromise them. What did the temp drop to? For how long? And more importantly at this stage, did they dry out or did the humidity remain in an acceptable range? You know Mom gets off them daily, regardless of the weather. My broody hens don't know that it is LOCKDOWN!!! Hope all goes well. I read others on here saying to give the late hatches until day 24 at least, especially if they are still moving inside. If your temp was on the low side of the range already for most of the 21 day period, I read that the hatch can be delayed anyway. Good luck and keep up posted.

I wasn't home but I got a call from my babysitter that the temp went to 90 but only for a little bit. My temp has been on the lower side around 99-100 in a still air incubator. The air cell in the 1 looks awesome and I had to turn the humidity down since I had to put 14 eggs in by yesterday. I figured as soon as I see a pip I will jack the humidity up again. I checked when I got home and the one still has no internal pip either. The other egg I am almost certain is a late death.

Here are most of my Aug 1st babies. There's still one more chick drying off in the incubator and 3 more eggs that haven't done anything yet. There are 13 chicks total.

This hatch was pretty much all pullet eggs (except for the Silkies, most of which made their way under broodies) and a good portion of them were clear when I candled of day 14- a lot of dark shelled Marans eggs and I couldn't tell until much later. So, 13 out of 16 that made it to lockdown isn't bad. There's still a chance they could hatch, today is hatch day, but that isn't usually the case in my incubator. If they're going to come out, they usually do so around the same time, so I don't hold out much hope for those last 3. Happy with my haul though! I've heard peeping under one of my broodies, but I'm not going to disturb her to see whats going on under there.

I'll have another batch hatching in the 'bator on the 5th and 5 more broodies with various hatch dates later in the month

They are so adorable! Congratulations!

I have a Lavender Orpington that will probably be out by tonight. Pretty excited for these. My little sex link that hatched yesterday needs a buddy!

I did my first candle at 10 days today...8 Silver Spangled Spitzhauben...tossed 1 that was clear, and 2 maybe blood ringed...I wasn't sure so I put them back in and will candle again at lockdown on the 8th. These eggs are in my new KingSuro 20 incubator with auto heat and humidity control.

Wow, had to look that one up. Have you used it before..? If so, do you like it?

First time using it...I started off with an IncuView which I returned because it stopped working at day 17...luckily I had a HovaBator which I transferred the eggs to and ended up with a 88% hatch rate!
I liked the IncuView and may try it again, but I was so annoyed when it stopped working...in all fairness, I must say that Incubatorwarehouse went out of their way to please me and returned my money straight away after I returned it, at their expense I might add.

That's good news..good to work with you. Now to see how this works out with this hatch. Good luck!

I now have a Lavender O. out. :)
