2015 August hatch-a-long!!

Sounds like a lot of eggs being set again. I am setting 11 of my own tonight. I have some already in another bator..wait, did I say another bator?

I have to wonder who has the most bators now...or the biggest. I used to have 4, but I decided I best slow down, just a bit.

I'm so excited- I think I saw an internal pip! How long before it hatches??? It's so confusing having guineas - the hatch timeframes seem all over the place

How did you see the internal pip? Candled?
You will only .. see..an external pip. And hear...cheeping at times. :) Can take anytime from within the hr..to 24 hrs.. to hatch once externally pipped.

A week ago I took 3 silkie eggs I started in my bator and gave them to a broody hen while my Chanteclers hatched. Today I took them back from her and put them in the bator. Candled tonight and 2 of them look farther along than I thought they were, 1 looks about where it should. Should be interesting to see when they all hatch. Maybe 1 was out near the edge where it was cooler.

I just finished candling the eggs under my broody and of the three eggs I set 9 days ago I have one clear but two with beautiful veining! I also candled the two I put under her 3 days ago because of an incubator mishap (no development at day 6 inside incubator) and now 1 has veining! I know day three is pretty early so I am crossing my fingers for the others I moved from incubator to broody. Overall I'm pretty excited!

I took four eggs away from my broody to give her day-olds, as if I waited they would not have bonded to her. The incubator was in use, so I put them under a heat light. They are do to hatch the day after tomorrow, but I think I over-heated them, so should I expect them to hatch tomorrow? Or is it just a wait and see sort of situation.

Day 21 on eggs I set for my uncle. I had 65 out of 71 hatch. I moved the hatched out to the brooder giving the eggs left another day..
