2015 August hatch-a-long!!

I've got 3 early birds. 2 EEs and a cuckoo Marans/EE mix :) I think my 2 remaining lavender Ameraucana eggs have died, but I left them in any way. I couldn't tell too well on my French black Copper Marans. Theyre dark inside was all I could see. None of them have pipped yet and I've got quite a few pips already in my own eggs. Bummer, but that's the chance you take with shipped eggs, I guess :/

Update:
I didn't want to open them up too soon, so after I checked to see if they were alive and they could breath, I let them be in the incubator. Every few hours I would open them up a little more, as removing the top made it nearly impossible for them to free themselves (at least that was what I guessed). After a long struggle, the one I thought wouldn't make it ended up passing. It has a warped shell and I hadn't planned on incubating it all.

Precious, my Partridge silkie chick, upon freed. She is doing really well

The four chicks. The one nearest didn't made it, the other three are still alive. The buff and the silkie are doing well, but the third chick, Enterprise, seems weaker then the others and bled a little more then them.

Precious and Adrian. Adrian has a fluid filled neck, something we saw in one other chick we helped hatch. That other chick eventually died under its mother, so I was wondering what causes it and if he will get better.

Thanks for all the support!

This morning was lockdown. :)
We had started with 24, but by this morning down by 10. Most were not fertilized which we knew might happen. Got home this afternoon and I already have one egg with a little "pip" - i can't see a anything because it is on the underside of the curve. Guess I will be patient.

Day 7 candling photos :) this egg is one of 6 mixed Silkie Bantam eggs from ebay (I'm in the UK we have large fowl Silkies here too) this is from a Gold roo and a black roo (carrying paint) running with 2 paint hens and 2 partridge hens. Amazingly for shipped eggs 6/6 are developing as they should be :D

This egg is one of 6 miniature paint Silkie eggs these are very small micro bantams.... 4/6 of these are developing well :)

This is another miniature paint Silkie egg.... one of those pesky overly porous eggs that all the sites on Google will tell you have no chance of hatching.... it's not very clear from the photo but I can see quite clearly there is a developing embryo in that egg.... I had a similar egg last month and one of my strongest peeps hatched from that egg so I'm rooting for this guy too ;-)

This egg also from the miniature paint batch looks like a clear but it's not..... the second pic is not too clear but if you look hard enough in the top right just below the air cell are some very faint veins I believe an early embryo death....

6th egg from the miniature paint batch is totally clear and looks like its been scrambled during shipping.... so I'm hoping I have 10 eggs make it to lock down now... 6/6 mixed bantam silkies and 4/6 miniature paint silkies :D

Gita... Fluid filled neck? I have had them with swollen necks, because it was such a tight fit. The swelling went down after a while. Keep us updated, I think you saved a few babies there. :) Sorry about the one. :/

Ciry..remember, don't toss until day 10! If you are seeing air sacs, you probably know there is a chance of something growing. :)

I am so excited about your eggs! Good luck with the hatch! I am a little Silkie crazed right now : )

My 3rd egg didn't make it but I did get at least one paint chick and another light colored one. It had pink skin on its shoulders so I wonder if it is a paint also since apparently that can happen with paints. Hopefully it will darken up!

I pulled another 16 chicks from my hatcher this morning. Mostly EEs and cuckoo Marans/EE mixes, but I got a bunch of SUPER cute Silkies or Sizzles from this hatch (I can't tell them apart as fluff balls).

Pictures coming soon :)

Congrats on all the new babies everyone. We NEED pictures!!!
