These pics are adorable. I hope to have a broody to hatch next year.
HI, I couldn't get a bandage to stick. The little guy finally gave up the fight last night. So sad but probably better than struggling like he was. Now I have one little white egg left and I think that one has a problem as well. 2 days ago it was really rolling around and then stopped. no more movement. I thought maybe it was just getting into position but I candled it today and I can see it had broke through the air sac but no movement or anything still. I think he might have used up all his air and died in there. I am leaving him in the bator just to be sure.Oh my goodness. If that was my chick I would probably tape a big bandage on his belly with some ointment and hope for the best. It sounds like it's full of life. I have been amazed at what kind of injuries animals can survive!
Very cute!![]()
The blue hen does appear to be a crossbreed.
Very cute, what a nice surprise to wake up to.

3 brown eggs left to hatch and can't see anything much in those eggs. I know they are filling the egg so that is good. all are due today.
did they hatch? My DH does the same thing... says I am chicken obsessed but then I catch him over there chirping at the chicks and looking at the eggs. We had one struggle to get out and he did but then later died so that took a lot of the excitement away from the process. My DH is a big softy and it really bothered him to have the little one die after he made it out. I hope the remaining few eggs hatch with no issues.Sunny pj- this is my second and a half batch. First was in the incubator the next under a chicken hen and the hatched at the last moment in the incubator. But , yes, I'm excited! So cool to watch the process. I now have 4 pipped and I can hear peeping. Love it! I talk to them for encouragement. I would think that the DH would think I'm nuts but he does it too.![]()
thanks for the advise. It really looked like more than yoke sac and he was in so bad shape... he finally died late last night. hope I don't have to go through that with the last few eggs in the bator.sunny, after reading your last explanation of what is going on, I can say that I have had these little stinkers too. I've only been hatching four 4 yrs. soo, have seen many things, and helped a few.So, what I do, is pinch the navel area shut after pushing that back in, and hold it...for a long while! I used Neo on it though, a lot!

thanks, it is hard because you seem to get more attached to the ones you have to really spend time with. You want to give them every possible chance. 4 eggs left in the bator. one white, think that one is dead in there now. (seems the last two little white eggs had issues) Then i have the 3 brown ones that are on day 21 today but I think they are going to be late bloomers. I can't see movement but with those brown eggs it is difficult to candle them. sure hope they pop out ok like the first 6 did. My husband was more upset about the little one that died than he wanted to let on. I am hoping these do well and he will get excited again to see the process.Ohh...honey,I'm really truly very sorry. You did everything, and I mean everything, that you could possibly do. I know how hard this is. From personal experience. I think most of us here do. Focus now on your remaining eggs. You,and every last egg, are in my prayers.
God bless you.![]()
