2015 breeding season

I did something that I would assume would be close but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. I put oyster shells in water and extracted that water after spinning the water for a long time. I was thinking because water will carry nutrients away from plants when there is excess water that doesn't get absorbed and just keeps flowing down. Leeching is the process water carries nutrients down with it. So by causing a current to the water for a long time it should carry some calcium with it. Even though it probably won't work as well as that would. Also we have some for our cows.

I found a hidden nest today with 3 eggs. I wish I could incubate them.

I don't know what to do with any eggs that I get while I am incubating the 7 I have currently in the incubator (I only have 1 incubator). Should I sell them?

Minx,,can you candle the eggs in your bator now? There is times in June-Julu when each week of egg collecting I wonder if there will be room. Candling helps but doing a quick craigslist ad can help too.Keep them at 60 degrees and turn twice daily and they should keep for 10 days.

I have room it is just that I only have one incubator. I don't think I can do a staggered hatch because once the first batch is ready for lockdown the other batch will not be and without an incubator that I can use for lockdown I can't add more eggs.

Of the eggs in the incubator right now 3 have veins, 2 I am pretty sure are no good and will be thrown out tomorrow probably and the other 2 were porous and thus were hard to see into but I think at least one of those might be bad.

I saw my first successful mating today.

It was Fred and the Pied hen I have in with him this year. Unfortunately I am still rather sick and cannot kick this sinus infection, so I witnessed it out the window. I am on my second type of antibiotics now and I am hoping this one actually works, as this is miserable. I received 2 eggs in the mail yesterday, unfortunately one has a rolling air cell and the other is loose, not too hopeful. They were shipped from in state, but obviously handled roughly.

I hate Sinus issues. It is a big one from my Bronze BS hen, who is penned with a White Male, I am hoping she let him cover her, every time I feed she chases him away from the food dish, so she is pretty dominant.
