2015 breeding season

Congrats! Are the colored ones so bright in real or its just the lighting here? Because purple chicks usually are darker.

I think that was mostly the lighting, but here is a picture taken in the brooder and they aren't that much darker.
Our house is all windows and sliding doors with no curtains, so there is a lot of light and scenic views.

The dark ones are sold and will be picked up Thursday, the lighter ones will be kept until the feather out and we can tell what they are.

Kskingbee, I think we all want to know the outcome of your assist last night. Maybe you said and I missed it but I been hopping up and down all day dreading to know!

The chick is still hanging in there even with the neglect during our wedding weekend. Monday it was looking like it was getting weaker and not eating or drinking so I talked to Kathy about tube feeding and got some really good advice and ideas on how to help.

I put the chick back into the hatcher after starting liquid with vitamins. Once it began to start pooing we started it on a Kaytee mix of one part Kaytee to three parts of water, that is where we are at now. The chick is somewhat weaker, but we will keep tubing it through the day and see if it gets stronger.

I have a FR 10 catheter and 3 ML syringe and am now up to 3/4 ML of feed after doing 0.5ML of liquid twice and 0.5 ML of feed once. I hope to be up to 1.0 ML feedings by this evening.

You could have a little "Forest Gump" chick on your hands there. It took mine 5 or 6 days to be up and walking, talking, pooping , eating and drinking.

Quote: If you think it's going downhill, you might want to try *just* warmed pedialyte for the next several hours, and maybe give it a very small drop of Baytril from a syringe with a 22 gauge needle. The yellow urates can mean infection or liver stress, I think.

I have been waiting a little while before starting up the incubator again. I forgot to say that I did have the temp up to 102 deg F because I said I would keep it at 100 deg F but because I had gotten it up to 102 successfully I decided to just leave it. I get annoyed sometimes turning that knob trying to get it to just the right temp, so I left it. I might try just 100 this time. I'm not exactly excited to try this all over again, but all of the cute peachick pictures on here are an encouragement.
