2015 breeding season

That take alot of room if you keep your birds penned and some hens will never sit a day in their lives , some folks got snake problems and they would lose eggs if they left them to long, some folks don't want or need any more peafowl , it is a personal choice, i have all i need i sell their eggs and hatch what don't sell within a few days of collection, my blue peafowl and guinea are paying for my green peafowl and that is good enough reason to take all the eggs and replace them with decoys until their last clutch, i will let them sit them if they choose, some have but many have not ;)

I see i understand now thanks for explaining

I found the first peafowl egg of 2015 last night but it was totally cracked, so not the ideal way to start off the season as it was from the Br BS hen who I have seen bred by the Br BS three times.

I'm waiting for my IB peahen to lay. I'm hoping there will be good quality White peafowl today at the auction. If not I will buy some from the lady that has 300 peafowl.

Don't get carried away! My hubby always does, he hates to lose and I swear he'd bid 10 x what a bird was worth just so he won. Then of course he'd have buyer's remorse for the next week.

Auction? Be very, very careful when buying birds at an auction, look them over good before bidding. Do not let them have contact with your birds when/if you bring them home, isolate, and treat them for everything before letting them mix with your birds. I do this even though they come from a reputable breeder.

Auctions are a great place to get rid of animals that you no longer want, culls. Unfortunately, a lot of people will also take problem animals to get rid of, and pass those problems off to other unsuspecting people.

Have fun at the auction!

It was awesome. 5 peafowl total. 1 IB adult peacock, 2 IB yearling cocks, 1 yearling White cock, and 1 White hen.

I bought the white cock for $36! The hen when I was bidding went from $25 (my bid) to $60 and I didn't have enough money for both so I just stayed with buying the cock. I can breed him to Thora and Marshmallow.

I know. I did full on check for external parasites, open clear eyes, any other weird health signs. He seems good. I'm worming and spraying just in case.

A green peachick hatched today

There were two other chicks one made it to day 25 and the other had internal pip at day 27, but they didn't make it.

But i'm still pleased that one hatched.
