I have had them not pip membrane and I did it for them after blood was absorbed, very fine timeline though! I mean where they made it with assist!

Ok Kskingbee, open that egg, u will be test subject! Lol. If u do open a bit at air cell, see what happening and if it's still alive.

Okay... to check an egg I make a small hole about where I think they should pip. Then check for signs of life. If none, I make the hole big enough that I can poke the embryo with my finger. If still not moving I make the hole larger until I locate the beak. If I can't see the beak, I moisten the membrane. If it still isn't moving I try to see if it was in the correct position or not. Here is a list of the common ones:

Then I proceed to remove the shell and check to see if the yolk was absorbed.

I have an anxiety attack when one pips at the wrong end because it's going to be a long nite for both of us.And 90% of the time the chick will have leg and toe issues once out. And most of the time here when I have one like that it will not hatch on it's own. It can't. The legs are mal-positioned by the beak and since thats the small side of the egg it doesn't have room to pip and roll. And another thing to consider,,,,since it has not broken thru into the air sac it's imperative once you see the shell cracked to pull the membrane away enough for the chjick to breath natural air.Kathy,,I'm sure I've read someplace theres enough air in the airsac to support the chick for about 24 hours. If I see a chick has broken thru the airsac I make a mental note of the time and if 24 hrs later it has not pipped I will make an opening for air to get inside.
I've had wrong enders a few times and it takes an effort on our part to get these chicks out to freedom about 90% of the time. I've seen chicks like this get one foot outside the pipped part and become stranded. Eggshell isn't opened enough for them to get completely out and because one leg is all the way out,these will become splayed leg victims.

I think tomorrow I will do an eggtopsy.
So in an eggtopsy I am basically looking to see if the chick's positioning was incorrect causing it to die correct?

Before I went into lockdown I could have sworn I saw the peachick's beak near the air cell so it looked to be in a good position to me. Then today after I candled the egg the chick was all the way on the other side of the egg and I couldn't even make out where the head was.

This is the first time I have had this issue. The only previous issue I have faced during hatch time is peachicks pipping but having trouble getting out so they need assistance. I didn't realize there was still a good chance of saving a peachick even if it hasn't pipped. I thought if they haven't even pipped then there is no use trying to save them because they probably wouldn't make it.

Helping out a peachick that has already pipped is stressful enough for me, I can just imagine getting one out that hasn't pipped. Is there a video for that?

It is the end of day 29 and it is still moving, I can see quite well with my candler. Do you all think I should pick a hole in it?

I would considering everything else hatched quite s while ago, may be difference in saving it or losing it.

I didn't on one last summer that my 8 yr niece could still hear, waited til morn and it had died in the shell that overnight.
