Same for us here in Georgia. I've never been to a walmart that sold anything live except for fish. Some walmarts don't even sell fish.My Walmart doesn't. They even stopped selling parakeets back in the 80's. Only living beings they sell are fish.
TSC in Hazlehurst, MS has chicks too
not real sure what i got -- they were in the brown egg layer pullets bin
best guess is that i got 2 red-sex-link/rir ... 2 black-stars/australorps ... and 2 not real sure maybe buff orpingtons
I just purchased 9 chicks from TSC in Hazlehurst. The labeling there is absolutely ridiculous, or was at the time I made my purchase. I don't think any of their chicks were sorted properly. I went ahead and bought four Rhode Island Reds, three of what appear to be Barred Rocks but were mixed in with the RIRs..? And two that were labeled as Delawares. I felt iffy about it but didn't want to order any through the mail while it's still any kind of cold out. These are my first chickens though, so I am happy regardless of what they turn out to be.

I felt the same way. I asked one of the employees and he said that he was sure some of the ones in the pullers bin were RIRs. The others he wasn't sure. I googled and I'm pretty sure the ones I got and the ones the employee said were RIRs are really RIRs. Guess time will tell. My other two are the ones they were unsure of, and between a Google search and personal opinions they are either Brown leghorns (what I thought based on pictures from Google) and personal opinions were they were speckled sussex's. Personally I'm hoping for speckled sussex's as I really wanted some! But like you, I'll be happy with whatever they are. I l'm really enjoying them even now (I've had them since last Thursday), and as long as I get eggs I'll be happy!I just purchased 9 chicks from TSC in Hazlehurst.
