I have a question for the group, interested to hear the opinions. The pullets I have are 7 months old, one of my EEs Snow is on the bottom of the pecking order, in fact would not come out of the coop today until everyone else was out. My question is when my chicks hatch should I bring Snow in to be with them so she is not the bottom of the older pecking order or is that a bad idea because she might pick on the babies. Like I said interested to hear opinions on this.

Thanks
That is not a bad idea but you should wait until the chics are older--12 weeks or so should work.

Snow may think the chicks are dinner and not flock mates.....Silly chickens!

Good news my sweet girl hasnt had any more seizures and is getting well to her normal self! and I am working on it as well! Things are backed up here at home but trying to catch up slowly!

Casey how is the hatching coming????
Is there a chance that she got into a poison of some sort?

Just to be safe, check her environment for stuff like that.

Wasn't planning on hatching anymore after Halloween, but my silkie has started laying and I'm curious to see what her & my sizzle rooster produce, so setting 4 more eggs today

@Scovy Momma feel you on the poor Serama hatch rate, I set 9, down to 2 now. Fingers crossed on the ones still cooking!

Best wishes for chickies for both of you! Seramas are difficult. Even on the home front for people who raise them. Those little eggs can be challenging so don't kick yourselves too hard. Probably nothing that you did wrong.

Thanks haha, the digital one was pretty close, I raised it too 100.7 do get my known accurate thermometer to read 100. I have two thermometers and one hygrometer added in. ^_^ all thoughts and double checks are appreciated though. I'm a complete beginner.

lol he needs a Mr grinch costume

welcome little one!! come on chickies!!

Thats a great idea to let her see them progress and get to see her chicks hatch! perhaps she can Skype the hatch? or something???? I dont know anything about that though or if you have internet capability to do that? ... anyone??? silkies are hard to sex anyways. not sure on the EE's your so nice sonshine!!!!
I did it! Not bad for just a smartphone so will capture her EEs when they start to zip. :) Time consuming but worth it! When I put them all together (the clips) I'll load them on youtube. Gonna take a few days and crossing my fingers I can catch the EEs actually going.................

SO pumped for those who have chicks hatching now! My girls have slacked off on the laying for the year. Keep those pics coming!

And speaking of pics, I was going through some old photos from earlier in the year and found a cute picture of my RSL Daisy and my Wyandotte sunning themselves shortly after we first bought them.

Man, now I miss early summer...
