We tryed all at ounces. We tryed one day at a time.it took three week to four week for an open incubator we only have two at the moment.

Yep. All three of the oozers were shipped. I'm hoping it's not a problem in the incubator that will spread to other eggs. Should I change the liners?

Sorry, left for a bit..if you have liner in there, and had oozers, I would change the liner. Maybe you already have. :)

prize, have you candled??????

The candling scares me. I not much for it.it reminds me what I went through with my last son in natural child birth. Hurts baby's . X ray machines attached machines ultra sounds. Not a good feeling to have. And to risky to lose one out of your hands by accident .

Tracy said maybe 100 chicken in one year would be good for the 3!of us. We would also like to be able to figure out how to give some to a needy family in years to come. The way it looks these holiday season it would not be possible tell we fix all issues. Tracy said we can't afford both air conditions on 60 that's why there set the way they our.its already to high 500.00 a month.

Any chance you could try buying chicks and raising them to adults? At least to start with, while you perfect your incubation. You probably wouldn't want to raise all 100 chickens at once, I have a couple hundred birds and only raise my meat birds 25 at a time. It's hard to find freezer or canning jar space for 25, much less 100. If you were to buy 25 Cornish Crosses you could harvest them before Christmas, maybe a couple by Thanksgiving.

There is no reason you should need to chill your house that much! Just set your eggs within a week or 10 days. A dozen hens should be able to provide enough to fill your incubators.

What do you plan to do with the rest of the eggs you don't set? Collecting them and letting them sit is not healthy for you or for them. Can you donate or sell them to someone who can use them?

Not candling is okay, chickens don't candle their eggs. But you won't know if you are doing things right if you don't, and won't be able to correct issues in time. Even if you don't pick them up, as long as you have the eggs fat end up in the turner (if you use a turner), you can just shine a flashlight or cell phone light into the fat end without moving them.

Have any of your hens gone broody? Have you considered letting them try hatching some eggs? If you put the hens who were broody in one coop together and let them set on a bunch of eggs, perhaps you'd get some chicks. It doesn't cost much to try!
