2016 Gosling Hatch-a-long

Well my Peking mama's doing a good job out of all my eggs I have two mixed surprises and one Sebastopol egg that remains sad but I'm thankful I have something the sabastopol is on day 16 and still kicking and the surprise eggs are on day 14 the only issue I'm having is she leaves the nest for long periods of time but it is hot hear in Florida so I just make sure they stay warm while she is gone. But so far they look very healthy and swimming around and happy as can be. Hopefully in ten days or so I should have a baby at least the start of hatch lol I'll keep u updated and thank you so much for your advice to stick them under my Peking duck it seems to be working thank you so much

Actually I think a duck and a chicken are better hatching goose eggs then the goose itself ;)
You definitely should have goslings in a few days.
Can't wait to see them!

7 days to go on my eggs in the incubator. They are developing very well. I've also got two nests with eggs in them. One that I am keeping 9 eggs in, I remove the oldest every time a new one is laid. The second has 5 in it so far. It had 6 but I removed this one today...

That's the largest goose egg I've ever seen and its beside Ethel's egg, she's about 6 yrs old or more. It's a double yolk like I had thought which is why I took it. If it hadn't been I would have put it in the bator and hatched Goz-zilla lol

That is the biggest egg I ever seen too

Look at the size of that thing!

So it's day 29 for 3 buff African eggs and 2 BuffxBrown African eggs and 2 eggs internal pipped so far and 1 has external pipped.
It's one of the BuffxBrown African eggs and it's buff meaning it's female!!!!!!!
I need as much buff females as possible!
Here's a pic ;)

So I candled my 10 African eggs and 4 were infertile.
So I've 6 fertile with 4 of them from the buff African and 2 from the brown African but (there's always a but) one of the buff African eggs embryo is forming in a different spot of the yolk then the others? I've always seen the embryos forming in dead centre of the yolk not at the very bottom.
This embryo is also a lot smaller than the rest.
What does this mean? Is it going to be a deformed gosling? That's what I'm thinking anyway.
I drew a diagram of what I mean so ye will understand better ;)

Top egg is the development of the embryo on the right location.

Bottom egg is the development of the embryo on the wrong location and is smaller then the others.

Remember this egg? It's also due and still looks like it's two or 3 days behind the other four which all have internal pipped and one external.
So there is definitely something wrong with this little guy and I'm curious of what is wrong with it.
It's moving a lot in the egg though!

It's nature's way at the end of the day I always think ;)
Do keep us updated!

I just can't wait for this little girl to pop out ;)
I never had more than 4 African goslings so hopefully that'll change this year.
See a gosling in the egg is so beautiful and it's so beautiful how nature is.

Ok here's the last batch of eggs I'm incubating. The sixth egg will be laid tomorrow so it's six eggs going in. All Barbaras eggs.
Now they can all lay and brood themselves.
I think that if you keep taking their eggs that they will be better with egg production and lay more every year ;)

Candled all six and all are fertile!!

Since I have room for another egg I've decided to put in another African goose egg in. The goose is only 10 months old but it's just an experiment. Byc is all about experiments too. The father is a brown african but has the buff gene so who knows what colour the gosling will be.
I think it's 25% of being buff female

Not to forget to mention that Bob's mom was 11 months old when he was laid.

This egg wasn't fertile.
