I've been reading about gapeworm because one of my ducks has partly lost her voice and sometimes sounds like a squeaky toy, shes been coughing as well though, I am keeping an eye on her but so far she hasn't developed any of the other symptoms and tell tell signs attached to gapeworm. We don't have any de-worming products for ducks in the UK so people usually use chicken or geese products but they don't always work so is often a case of hit or miss - Just thinking if it might be worth your while to de-worm your flock any way? Vets here recommend de-worming chickens twice a year regardless so I'm thinking it wouldn't do them any harm?

Worming would make my eggs inedible for 24 days. As I’m getting over 10 a day that’s a 240 egg loss. I can’t stomach that without having more than one single bird exhibiting only one symptom of what could be gape worm. I’ll de worm in the dead of winter when egg production is at a minimum.

When I went outside I found TWO hawks on the wire. One flew away, they were calling to each other.

Do people ever do deworming preventatively?

I think most flock owners do it preventively once a year generally in winter when egg production is already low. They suggest you don’t use it on brooding hens or molting birds.

I went to visit @No More Empty Nest and her chicks today.
Her polish has a crooked beak
Im now calling her Quasimodo. XD

Obviously causing her no problems eating or drinking.

Oh gosh call MPC and let them know, they’ll comp that little cutie for ya! They comp’d my cross beak and my rooster. I love the name Quasimodo!!!

I don't yet but I intend to - over here in the UK it is advised to de-worm autumn and spring
