He seems to be pleased to turn and let the girls take it from him.

He was chasing Oliver around the yard today.

So are you keeping more then one boy?

I knew I wasn't crazy about the treat thing. He really can't communicate that to me though can he? Unless he flogs me to get his point across. Well point taken.

As long as they don’t start having bloody fights.
I’ll allow some sparring and such because I know they must establish dominance but I really don’t see Ollie trying to overthrow Angus anytime in the near future.
However, when he starts breeding girls will be the test.
Angus really isn’t aggressive and I could see him tolerating a beta roo or two.
Neither of them seem to be the “fight to the death” type.
I can already see that Ollie thinks of the girls he grew up with as “his”.
I may put Angus and his 3 in another coop in the side yard after the fence is finished.
I’m trying to keep Frodo alive right now.
He’s so emaciated that I don’t know if he’d survive surgery.
But I can’t let his suffering continue...

Pippin is broody!
She is hugely puffed up and has been in the nest for hours.
She hisses and growls and tries to bite me if I try to move her.
Not the best time of year for chicks but she could still be fertile from Silkie!

Red keeps trying to lay but nothing happens.
She seems better after having passed the soft shelled egg the other day but I still haven’t gotten an actual egg from her since Monday last week.
Agatha and Emily have resumed laying.

I strongly believe Frodo may have an impacted crop.
I gave him a thorough examination today and noticed his crop is large and full but hard.
I can feel all kinds of “stuff” in there.

I will check his crop first thing tomorrow morning to see if it emptied.
I have replaced the bantams pelleted food with crumble which Frodo seems to have an easier time with.
I’m also going to give him/them some Ultrakibble for Chicks mixed with chick grit.
I’m hoping the mixture of regular grit and small grit will help Frodo break down this mass.

Just wondering if you have ever manually emptied a compacted crop or if you've ever watched any of the many videos on YouTube giving step by step instructions and demonstrations on how to empty a compacted crop?

I thought she might lay more in the next few days but I guess when they go broody they stop laying?
I don’t think I could give her back the ones she laid yesterday and the day before because they’ve been in the fridge.

Just a thought but I'm thinking there might be a small chance she could hatch a fertalised egg even if been kept in fridge. There are people who have bought food grade eggs from a supermarket and having incubated them have had some hatch.
 
I just spent an hour making the run equivalent to the forest. Maple leaves, twigs, juniper leaves(well kinda like a leaf but more ever greenish but brown), and about 3 other kinds of leaves.

Then I wonder why my chickens are night owls...lol

I'm sure I'm confusing the raccoons and Opposums, so a win win for me.
 
This was the best photo I could get of most of them! I have three 7 week olds in the house as well.
