2018 Newbie Chat!

Oh yes, I want to find out! Chances are high that it's Pearl's since she is squatting like crazy. The weather here has finally taken a turn for the better. The snow is finally melting but since the ground is still frozen, the water isn't going anywhere. I can't wait to get them out of the run again. Then I can sit out with them and watch who goes in the coop. Supposed to be 60 degrees (15 C) today, Yay!!!
I think Pearl too, although I'm wondering about Opal too as she was missing on camera - will have to wait for your better weather then you can solve the mystery - be sure to tell us though, looking forward to finding out who, :pop

My little group decided to lay eggs in different areas today. Generally they all lay in one place. I think they wanted to see how I would get them--they did not count on the broom :celebrate
:lau sounds like they are keeping you on your toes though and in view of them escaping without you having worked out how I'm thinking score so far is - Chickens 2, Llombardo 1 :gig

Do the little ones are starting to get their combs. I'm worried about a couple being boys. I keep looking at the legs. I'm holding on to the fact that jersey Giants are big birds so even females would have bigger legs then other breeds. I'm moving them to a large dog crate this weekend. I worry about tvem trying to squeeze through the bars, so I think I'm going to line the inside with a tarp. Any better ideas are being accepted. I'm trying to figure out how to keep a roost bar in(connected) to the crate with a tarp. They sure do love roosting.

Do you guys remember the play dough and you pushed it through to make hair? That is what one of the polishes heads reminds me of--so cute.

Those little Polishes are so cute!

The faverolle started molting and has been for a while now. Not sure if the up and down really not consistent temps have anything to do with it? I feel they may be picking on her. I sprayed blue kote on the area and today I noticed another area on her head. She is the sweetest bird. I'm thinking of making her a indoor girl with field trips outside. I think that she can and will acclimate well to this kind of setting because she will get lots of one on one from me. The plan is to move the bigger ones outside soon and then the babies will have a nice big area to grow before they go out there. I'm thinking that I may put the faverolle with them, because I don't think she would hurt them, she is not like the other girls and I feel bad for her.

Thoughts?

I remember the hair playdoh! Would love some updated pics if you are willing?
As for dog cage, when taking our ducks to their new home we lined the inside of the crate with cardboard held on with cable ties, worked really well plus I'm thinking it would be easier to cut out an area to attach the roost bars.
