Ugh! I took more birds from my friend Kat lol. 
Chicken math...
I now have a little adult mixed bantam hen. She's black with just a little red under her chin and neck. I'm calling her Birdie. She has no toenails! I don't know why...she gets around just fine. She lays cute little eggs...actually they're not that much smaller than the Wyandottes eggs.
My friend, Kat, doesn't seem to have names for a lot of her birds. Well actually these aren't really hers. Her other friend kind of dumped them on her because she had too many birds. Now Kat has too many birds...smh.
She suspects her friend is coming over when she's not home and dumping more birds on her property. They just keep showing up! Not cool!
I also got a very tiny bantam chick that's 6-8 weeks old. She's so small I named her Bitsy! Parakeet size!This one's some kind of mix too and has feathered legs. She seems like she may have game bird or d'uccle or something from her tail carriage. SO stinkin tiny!!
Kat is giving me another one like Bitsy but not quite as small...this one has cuckoo patterned feathers.
They seem to be integrating pretty well but I have them in my prefab coop so the others can see but not touch. I do let Frodo, Silkie, Pippin & Cricket in there to interact with Birdie & Bitsy so they get used to them. And they all sleep in there together too.
Frodo really likes Birdie lol. She squatted for him this morning and let him mount her.
Bitsy was in the hamster cage for a couple of days but she just wouldn't settle down. And since Birdie is so sweet and docile I thought I'd let Bitsy in with her.
Well that's exactly what Bitsy wanted. She calmed right down like she thought Birdie was her mom. And Birdie kind of acts like it...she shows Bitsy food and stuff.
They're both terrified of me though. Especially Bitsy...
Kat doesn't handle her birds much.
I just ordered my heat plate from Amazon. I got the Premier brand with the lid thing that keeps the chicks from sitting on the top. I actually ordered two because I wasn't sure if 12 would fit under as they get older. I guess since it's summer now and we have average daytime temps in the mid 80s the chicks won't need the heat for as long?
So everyone has been shifted around this week because I'm trying to get all my LF birds to become 1 flock & all my bantams as 1 flock.
So all 5 NN have been sleeping in the walk-in coop with Red & the Wyandottes.
I've had to round them up and get them to go into it for about 3 nights now but last night after I called to them they went over there voluntarily lol. I think they like the large ladder roost my husband built for them.
I have all the bantams in my prefab coop/run. But the ones that aren't new get to go out and free range during the day. The newbies have to stay for a while because I want them to know where they live.
