2018 Valentine's day mail-a-long

Ok, just did some snooping/chatting on their website. Side note-their chatter people are very helpful. Status was pending, arrival date is the 13th to the 15th. I chatted with one of the peeps, and the said they shipped by 3:00 pm eastern, and it would most likely be here in 2 days.

I would expect them on Wednesday if shipped Monday... but I did see they also ship Tuesday, and Wednesday. Two days is a GOOD time frame. 3 get's scary.

Yes, their chat is helpful... but I can't seem to close it out and it hogs up half the page while I am shopping. :barnie Only thing I have figured out so far is change the page I am viewing and it goes away for a couple minutes before it pops back up again. :smack

I did end up with one chick (out of 16) failing a couple hours after their replacement policy expired. Note that while some places insure for 72 hours, Meyer's was actually 48 from pick up at the P.O. As a hatcher, I KNOW that sometimes things happen. :hmm So not placing any blame, just sharing their time frame. :)

Anticipation! :jumpy :wee

I did some prep for the new chicks just now. I set up the pool brooder again. I know it is a bit small for 16 chicks long term but I'm only going to keep them inside for about 1 week. I'll set up food, water, and the heater plate later today.

Since it should be warmer for the next week, I'm weaning my 8 week old chicks off the heater plate and putting a broody tote in the outdoor brooder for them to start sleeping in. When the new chicks are ready to go to the outdoor brooder I'll move the 8 week old chicks and their broody tote into a 5x5 PVC run inside the main flock paddock so they will get acquainted with the rest of the flock. After that, I'll do some controlled introductions.
