I didn't see a hatch-a-long thread for this year yet, so here it is!

Who's hatching this year? Anyone have eggs going now? I set seven eggs on 4/2, and all seem to be developing. Strangely, one has a detached air cell, so we'll see how that goes. I also set a cracked one last night. Probably won't do anything, but figured I might as well try it. I'll be setting more as I get them collected, too.

I brought home a pair of American Buff Geese a couple of weeks ago, Golly the gander and Georgia the goose. Her owner gave me two of her eggs, she laid one in her kennel on the way home, and another they day after at my house. Since then she hasn't laid anymore, so I brought them in to incubate them. Unfortunately a mishap involving a counter surfing standard poodle resulted in the three large eggs being broken and eaten off the floor. The egg that remained is honestly about the size of a small/medium duck egg. Like it comfortable fits in an egg carton. So I don't have much hope for it, but I set it on Monday, so we'll see if anything develops. I'll probably toss it if I don't see any veining by day 10-14. I'm hoping she'll start laying again.

I set two more eggs last night, ones I had left over after filling an order of hatching eggs.

So that brings me to nine. The one with the detached air cell quit, not surprised. I did set another one that got cracked knocking into another egg while I was collecting them, and that one is developing, so we'll see if that one makes it.

Well Georgia is laying again. I found an egg yesterday. Golly is obnoxious which was my first clue she'd done it again. Apparently he escorted my roommate across the backyard this morning calmly walking, head down, wings outs, gently hissing...lol Fingers crossed she continues to lay and actually incubates.
