hi!! everyone, my hen just went broody today. she was hatched about a year ago by a broody hen and i am super excited.:celebrate:woot i thought it might be fun to have a may hatch along so if you are hatching eggs or if your eggs have hatched come join and share your stories and info. everyone is welcome!!:) thanks

I got a 9 month blue Marans broody that’s sitting on 9 mixed eggs (Olive Eggers and EE/Marans mixed) due to hatch on Wednesday or Thursday in her made up nest cardboard box that I accidentally left 5’ up in the coop storage.
That'd sounds like a good butch of breeds. I hope your hatch goes well :)

I ordered 2 dozen silkie eggs from Bobbi Porto, a show silkie breeder, and she generously sent 3 dozen. I set them on Friday, so we are due the 31st. The eggs look fantastic, super well packed. Out of 36 eggs only 3 wobbly air cells and only one completely detached one. I'm leaving them upright for a few days and started gently hand turning today -except for the wobbly ones which are not being touched until Tuesday. I have a turner and after I candle on Tuesday. I'm gong to turn it on. If my wobbly ones aren't stable yet, I think I will keep those eggs upright in the carton and hand turn ever so gently for few more days. I'm excited! My son asked me what I was going to do with 36 more chickens and my dear husband chimes in to tell him they won't all hatch so quit worrying. He's my chicken enabler. To think that 39 years ago when we got married he was a city boy who was half-afraid of chickens.
