2019 may hatch a long!!!!!!

I have 4 broody hens sitting on 36 eggs (I think). Only one is an experienced broody. Two are co-sitting. They are on day 11, day 10, and day 9. I'm trying to keep it natural. I'm not candeling, just gathering fresh eggs when the other hens lay in their nests. I do NOT need 36 chicks but will fall in love with any that hatch. They are barnyard mix, mostly Easter eggers.

So tonight I think I'm going to my broody to another nest on the floor of the coop because the bigger hens wont leave her alone. I

hi welcome to the hatch a long. that sounds like a good batch of eggs. this is my broody hens first time, her mom hatched her about a year ago, she was the only one that hatched, and know she is giving it ago her self. im a little worried on how she will do but hoping for the best i think her mom is a little bit jealous and might go broody her self. good luck with your hatch.

your hens are so cute!!! here is my bantam hen and my broody hen when she had just hatched. i will get you a more recent photo.

the mamas name is trixie and the babys name is pixie. pixie is just about a year old and is know broody herself

She is so cute. I'm hoping to get some bantam eggs next time I have a broody (maybe in the fall).

Bantam are the best. My favorite breed is a d,uccle which is the breed of the mama In that photo. Here Is a recent photo of my broody hen. Pixie

She looks like her mama. I was afraid to buy any d'uccle. I've heard they don't tolerate heat well. I'm in Texas. It is usually hot and humid for about half the year.

My last momma was killed by dogs, had new runner up last month after 2 weeks she started getting nice and flat, no others got to that point, I just grabbed 10 eggs some light and darker browns, a blue, a pink a green, a white one or two just what ever was laid that day. She kicked a light brown out about 2 days later, 8 of nine hatched 21-22 days later. #9 had a chick in it just failed to hatch. Week old now, two chipmunk colored, one white, a grey, 3 blacks, two of which lots of white on the chest and face, and one cinnamon colored. Mom was quite upset when I was trying to remove the egg from the nest that didn't hatch by day 28. Seems to be a good mom, here's the line up just 3 days after hatch.
