2019 may hatch a long!!!!!!

My last momma was killed by dogs, had new runner up last month after 2 weeks she started getting nice and flat, no others got to that point, I just grabbed 10 eggs some light and darker browns, a blue, a pink a green, a white one or two just what ever was laid that day. She kicked a light brown out about 2 days later, 8 of nine hatched 21-22 days later. #9 had a chick in it just failed to hatch. Week old now, two chipmunk colored, one white, a grey, 3 blacks, two of which lots of white on the chest and face, and one cinnamon colored. Mom was quite upset when I was trying to remove the egg from the nest that didn't hatch by day 28. Seems to be a good mom, here's the line up just 3 days after hatch. Sorry about the bad pic with red light in the background. View attachment 1774520

I'm sorry to hear about your hen. Congratulations on your chicks, they are adorable

She looks like her mama. I was afraid to buy any d'uccle. I've heard they don't tolerate heat well. I'm in Texas. It is usually hot and humid for about half the year.
I hope you dont mind me asking but I was wondering if you by chance were near Dallas TX. That is where I am, I have a free rooster that I really need to find a good home for. If you are interested just let me know. Thanks

I am getting geared up to set 12 little duck eggs. a Khaki, an appleyard, 4 peking, 3 buff, and 3 call. Testing out our new incubator (Brinsea mini advanced 2) along with a trusty oldie.

Remind me, duck eggs start hatching on day 28 or are expected to be fully hatched on day 28?

Thank you and happy hatching to all!
Welcome to the hatch along, I'm sorry I don't really know anything about hatching ducks but i hope it all works out.

Generally they start to hatch on day 26-27 and are hatched by the 28-29 day. Some Call ducks hatch on day 26.

I'm down near Corsicana & Athens. No. No. No more roosters. Lol. I always seem to have more roosters than I need. He is gorgeous though.

Ready to do 5 day candle of my new siklie eggs tomorrow evening. Can't wait for more silkies. I have a few silkies who are great mammas. I generally use them to mamma whatever I pick up at the feed store. Here they are with last year's babies- all non silkie. The two hens co-raised them and they always tried to steal chicks from each other. Poppy is yelling for the chicks to get put from under Pansy and come to her.
