18 eggs total! I just got my auto turner today, so hopefully everything works the way it’s supposed to.

I have 40 eggs in the incubator going into lockdown today. It’s only my second hatch so I’m hoping that fixing the temp will help me do better this time! There is quite an assortment of breeds-Spitzhauben, ameraucanas, Easter Eggers, Orpingtons, Delawares, welsummers and a few Cochin bantams. I have a smaller incubator due later this month that has bielefelder eggs but I candled them last night and only one appears to be developing

@Magnolia Ducks, I wish I could help, but I don't know anything about duck eggs. Do you see any movement when you candle that one?
No I don't and it appears to have black spots separate from the fetus. The other egg has nice red veins. I suspect my humidity is way to high

I think it might be dead. :hmm
Thanks I just needed a little push to throw it out. One of those stories.... Smelled it before and it didn't smell good. The other egg smells fine. Bad egg went with my DH to the back 40.
Edit: I was attacked by spell check

Ok funny to me, but DH took bad egg to the back 40 on the lawnmower. We have a really big yard and a really big lawnmower with a roll bar. He cocked back for a big heave and broke the egg on the roll bar. It was definitely dead and black slime went all over the lawnmower. Is it really bad that I giggled.:sick

Looks like they’re both black. The hatching eggs were supposedly an assortment of BBS and Wheaten flocks. Just my luck I’d end up with two black chicks. But they’re out and fluffy and adorable! They’re both tucked under their heat plate for the night now. I’ll work on getting them eating and drinking in the morning.
