We have a pip! In the wrong place. Ugh. Close to the air cell but not actually in it. Baby is rocking and peeping away, though. Now I have to be patient, which is not my strong suit.

Congratulations :D

so hers an update on my hen. she is still acting the same, she will be off the nest and when i pick her up and show her, her eggs and she suddenly sits on her eggs and starts to act like a normal broody. 20 mins later she is off again. im going to move her tonight to give her some peace from the other hens, when she sleeps next to them they terrorize her. i hoping this works. :fl

Is your hen low on the pecking order? I hope she settles down after being moved! The only broody I've had (so far) was my alpha hen, so I just let her stay in the coop - none of the other hens dared to even LOOK at her nest box or chicks. Lol.

yes my hen is one of the three bantams i have and is low pecking order, if one of my RIRs pecks her once she runs off her nest so fast.:hmm im hoping moving her to a spot they wont mess with her t night will help her calm down:fl but they will still have access to her in the early morning and evening.

Most of the eggs I hatched pipped on those side and zipped the eggs shell into halves.

Good news my first broody (broody#1) hatched 5 chicks so far, started Tuesday with one, unfortunately the first one got trampled by other hens trying to lay eggs on her nest, since I was too busy to move her down to an isolation screened room. I’ve checked tonight, 3 more eggs to go with the 4 chicks that’s doing great in separate room from the flock. Today, I gave broody #2 four Black Copper Marans eggs and broody #3 two EE eggs.

First chick is out! Pictures in the morning when it’s fluffed up a bit. The other egg is rocking like crazy (and being subjected to a bit of chick soccer) but hasn’t pipped yet. Hopefully it won’t be too far behind.
