2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

If you have snakes already I sure wouldn’t feel good about putting them out. I had the same thing happen here with mama Muscovy and 3 sibs watching but not much they can do with a 5 ft snake wrapped around the ducking thankfully I came up in the scene and rescued the poor wee one

I heard it screaming and my eh and I came to the rescue. We make it a rule not to kill non poisonous snakes, but this guy had to go.

I have a rat snake that hangs out with the ducks sometimes. I have found her under a duck before waiting for the egg to come out. Silly duck.

That is hilarious. We have huge black rat snakes here and last summer one ate all my OEGB eggs 2x I even set up a camera inside trying to catch what ever it was that was eating her eggs never caught it on camera. Then one day I went in to clean and there was the egg bandit up on the roost trying to figure out what happen to his lunch.i had moved my hen and the eggs I had borrowed from her daughters and put them in a place where the snake couldn’t get to them.

Yes. George is a great duck. He has been gentle with Mini so far and not had to go to drake jail. Mini has gained about 30% weight since he has been here. All of the eggs are fertilized!

I like my rat snake when it doesn't eat my lings. I don't mind it getting an egg or two.

Is it black with maroon tips on some of the scales ?

Very dark grey with spots. Amazing ability to go straight up the walls.
