Blue buff columbian, our lemon Pyle Roo might be a bit young to fertilise them yet..but the chicks should still end up being a lemon Pyle colour.

Good morning everyone! I think I have a sick chick! I shared this on the health forum & my thread, but wanted to post here too!

My 4 week old Buff Orpington Rooster, seems to be off of his feed this morning! Every day I feed my chicks a morning mash of chick starter soaked in warm water. This little guy is the one that is always there to greet me and hop in my hand! Today, he was totally disinterested. I left them for a bit and came back and he was still standing in the same place he was when I left. I also give them a clump of grass and dirt to scratch around in...just to let you know the routine! I brought him into the house with me and checked him over...his crop is soft and I'm really not sure about his tummy! I want to observe him to see if he is going to the bathroom. Is there anything else I should check. I have some homemade electrolytes for chicks, should I give him some of that or wait and just watch him for a bit. I will be so sad if anything happens to him, he's my favorite!

I usually give mine scrambled egg when they’re acting a bit off, electrolytes should help. Keep him separated from the others so they don’t start picking on him. Hope he gets better soon!

In the health thread they suggested that I give him Corid! My son is in town today, which never happens, so he is picking up the supplies I need! My chick is just sitting in my lap under a towel right now!

Awesome! I'm going to looking around online for a good set, I'm thinking for just the new chicks growing. But maybe for the others.... If we can catch them

Electrolytes with vitamins is a good thing to have on hand for this. Also get them some grit, pebbles, in case it's food not getting ground up right. It could be sour crop started, which all the above can help with if caught in time. If in the morning it's really bloated then you might need the yeast meds.

Thank you so much! I've been forcing the electrolytes down him and I think he's starting to improve! They have had access to sand and grit, hopefully it's large enough. Someone else suggested that I give him some yogurt to help with sour crop! He's complaining very loudly right now and jumping on top of his waterer, which I'm taking as a good sign, the below picture shows how he was an hour ago! I still don't think he's interested in his food or water, so I will give him more electrolytes in a bit! I mixed some of the yogurt into his mash with some of the electrolyte water! I'm starting to hope!
