They are looking great! I cant imagine raising chickens in that warm of weather. 😰 We will get up to the 90s here in the summer and maybe hit 100 but it never seems to last very long.

yeah it gets a little tricky and i lost a couple to the heat last year when we had them in the wood shed, now everyone is out in the barn and there's a lot more ventilation and shade so they're warm but not over heating. this is the beginning of summer and already this hot.... normally "feels like" temps of 115f degrees is for August. We're not looking forward to this summer.

Woke to so much cuteness!!! Only two hatched yesterday and almost everyone else hatched last night! little popcorns!

they were so smooshed up i couldn't tell if anymore needed to hatch, so waited a another two hours and then went and took everyone out into the waiting warmed up brooder.
Started collecting eggshells and realized 3 hadn't hatched yet, did outside check and no pips thankfully so wouldn't shrink wrap. Did a fast candle and two had no movement and all blood vessels were gone, so we threw those ones out. The other one was trying to do internal pip so i quickly put it back in and gonna let it do it's thing.
Here is everyone else...

One australorp and the rest look to be brahmas :D yay!!! we'll see what they feather out to, but looks like two definite buffs.

🤣 so nice when they hide like that.
are you letting her finish hatching? sounds exciting to have more babies runnin around.

I hope you are having a good day too!
working on cleaning and setting up brooder again inside here, fingers crossed for a Sunday hatching. Found out my sister is coming for a month long visit, so i will be with the chickens a lot.... she kinda makes my anxiety spike high.

Yes, still under the shed. Had a look today with the torch and it looks like she has 10 eggs under there:th
Can’t wait till they hatch!! They’ll all be golden partridge or blue partridge chicks. :)

Thank you! everyone is doing pretty good, i gave them a little bit of vitamins as they seemed to be sleeping a little too much, and made sure they knew how to get to the water. The last egg is still in the incubator, still not external pip, so we'll see how it goes, only one day late so just gonna let it be for now.

Here's a couple "better" pics of the littles!
IMG_20200609_103906353.jpg there are two colored like this with a little red fluff on their faces
IMG_20200609_103947571.jpg two like this, definitely buff!
IMG_20200609_104044317.jpg one like this, we know it's an Australorp mix, meet Penguin
IMG_20200609_104137408.jpg there are two like this, soft yellow with a white apron on it's back.

then we have one that is all soft yellow, it didn't want it's picture taken... oh well.

still waiting on the last egg. it's done a full internal pip now but no external yet.... im a little worried but we'll see.
