2022 Chick Catalogs

Ideal, the other hatcheries I get catalogs from have catalog request links.

Does anyone have preference on getting your chicks? I'm planning to get mine in the Spring as I'm new to this and figured it would be easier for the chicks and myself to become more familiar with each other w/o the added worry of winter from the get-go (My worry; probably not theirs I had only heard of mypetchicken.com but after reading this thread see there are more options. Hubs wants to go to a local farm but I don't believe they sex them and I don't want to unknowingly pick up roosters vs. hens. We were thinking Dominques/Dominickers as he has fond memories of his mother having a small flock and we thought they would be good with the grandkids when they come to visit. Any advice is appreciated

I think spring is a good time of year for a first timer. I will say make sure you have your coop and run all set up and ready to go before you go get the chicks. A lot of people buy chicks thinking they will build the coop as the chicks grow. They find out chicks grow faster than they can build.
Where chicks come from is just down to you. Personally I like looking at my birds first. Online shippers might sex the birds but there is still a chance a rooster might slip by.
Dominques are pretty birds, my granny had some when I was growing up. Then again she had just about every breed as she was a crazy chicken lady.

I got my McMurray catalog recently. I can’t partake in the fun of chicken math due to city rules and my small backyard. Still fun to look through the catalog though! I really liked their bit on helping reestablish the Redcap in the US.
