My McMurray catalog came in. Probably won't be ordering any chicks though.

I will say make sure you have your coop and run all set up and ready to go before you go get the chicks. A lot of people buy chicks thinking they will build the coop as the chicks grow. They find out chicks grow faster than they can build.
I had never ordered online from a hatchery until this year, but McMurray has had great customer service so far!Does anyone have preference on getting your chicks? I'm planning to get mine in the Spring as I'm new to this and figured it would be easier for the chicks and myself to become more familiar with each other w/o the added worry of winter from the get-go (My worry; probably not theirsI had only heard of mypetchicken.com but after reading this thread see there are more options. Hubs wants to go to a local farm but I don't believe they sex them and I don't want to unknowingly pick up roosters vs. hens. We were thinking Dominques/Dominickers as he has fond memories of his mother having a small flock and we thought they would be good with the grandkids when they come to visit. Any advice is appreciated

It is a huge catalog. I hope to get a chance this weekend to compare them with Ideal and Murray McMurray. Has anyone ordered from Strombergs?

I like big catalogs full of beautiful chickens.![]()
I never heard of this hatchery. I just took a look and I see they are selling easter egger ducks? InterestingGot a Mt Healthy catalog today. Too bad I am at my max for orders this year. Breeds they have that I’m interested in:
Golden Cuckoo Marans
Splash Jersey Giant
Splash Wyandotte
Chocolate Orpington
Rhode Island Blue
Blue Australorp
Columbia Rock Cross
Eggers

They are a few dollars pricier for some of their birds, but they have a lot of blues & splashes and a variety of colors for most of their breeds. Plus only $10 to have 10 chicks shipped or $30 to have 3-9 which seems high but is actually a great rate for just 3 chicks. My local non TSC farm store orders from them every spring and I can place orders of 6 for no shipping at the store. And I like that you can do 1 per breed like Ideal & Mt Healthy.I never heard of this hatchery. I just took a look and I see they are selling easter egger ducks? Interesting
