That makes sense! I have several heat sources for my shipped chicks and really go overboard with their first few daysIt had something to do with shipped chicks needing more heat the first few days.
regardless, I house all chicks in the coop and still gonna use the sweeter heater due to safety.

They want you to use a lamp instead of a plate? I prefer my plate and I have idea why it's any of their business. That seems weird.I ordered my first chicks ever--due here in late April. We're currently finishing our coop--it's big, but one end has its own door and will be a sort of closet for garden tools. My order is pretty mundane, but I won't care. They're breeds reputed to be friendly, and I'll have eggs coming out my ears the first year or two.
From Cackle, two of each: Black Australorp, Barred Rocks, Delawares, Buff orpies, and Speckled Sussex.
FWIW: Cackle made me check something saying I'd use a lamp instead of a plate, too.
