2022 Chicks - Cackle Experience

Pics
Chicks are at the nearest regional hub, definitely following the same timeline as last batch. I expect I'll wake up to a text from USPS notifying me they are held for pickup at the post office. I do wonder what time the post office would get around to calling if I didn't show up immediately using text alerts.

Chicks made it to the local post office and were scanned in at 1am. They aren't in "held for customer" status though, they are in "expected delivery by 9pm" status.

I'm concerned that my mail lady may have gone rogue. We spoke last week and I mentioned we'd be expecting chicks Friday for pickup at the office. She seemed confused that they made me pick them up last time as she delivered 8 boxes of chicks to one of the local feed stores that same week. I voiced confusion why they were and to be delivered and ours had to be picked up but that I was happy to do it so we'd get them right at 7am and into the brooder. She said if she had live animals she'd bring them right out to us first thing.

I thought nothing of it until the package not being scanned as holding for customer. I can't imagine she was there at 1am scanning when we typically get our mail around 2pm. So did someone mis-scan and I should get them at the post office? Or is this intentional and if I go in they will be crossing paths on the way? Thankfully hubby is home so I can go in to the post office and if we cross paths he will be here to intercept.

So, got my chicks in one day from Missouri to Iowa. So far at 5 days old they are vigorous, healthy, clean butts, eat and drink with gusto! I'm worried about one of the Buff Orpingtons being a cockerel, it's so much bolder and just seems different, however being that this is my first experience having babies I'm probably just being paranoid. The customer service is pretty great too, they are willing to answer any questions.

Whrer did you order from again? They look soooo sweet! Congratulations on good shipping & healthy babies! ❤️

Chicks were held at the post office this morning. I was surprised to hear a rooster crowing from the back while picking them up though. Looks like we got four Black Laced Red Wyandottes and two Blue Ameraucaunas.

The packing was definitely different for this small order versus our larger order. Heat pack was still plenty warm and they had put the grass material like a nest to keep the chicks from bouncing around. Another excellent experience and I appreciate they were willing to ship the missing/replacements chicks for free. Had they just refunded we wouldn't have gotten the extra chicks with the shipping cost.

I used the nesting material in the outdoor nesting box, and it looks so cute with eggs in the middle

I love that nesting material. I've ordered nest pads made from it. It's called excelsior and it lasts a good long while before I have to change it out. https://www.amazon.com/MagJo-Excels...pd_rd_i=B076ZSJBWD&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_rp_1_i

Oh yay! It is awesome that they reshipped only 6, and they all arrived alive! Look so cute in that little nest! ❤️
