2023/2024/2025 Question of the Day Archive & Suggestions

I would hope so!
I guess I’m just wondering how you could enforce it?

JUst don't use them if they din't meet the format rules.
"We're sorry, we are unable to use your submission to the Question of the Day because your submission did not meet our format standards. Please read the rules HERE." ( with HERE, of course, being a link to the rules.)
That's part of it, but also 11 posts in a row like this:

"Favorite fruit?"
"Favorite vegetable?"
"Like cake?"
"Favorite dog breed?"

etc...

Clutter up the thread and make it more work for Kathy to sift good questions from bad. She's got to cross check them too. Stopping to answer them and basically say "hey this isn't valid" as well is adding more work.

We have an archive of the posts that people can reference in the first post. They SHOULD do that before they ask, and then ask their question in a complete sentence. (control-f to search the spreadsheet, FYI) Don't just rapid-fire off 2 word "questions" because you forgot they were already asked and you're bored.

This is part of why I get on people when they get off track or post repeats. I would not presume to speak for R2elk, but I'd guess this is also why they get on folks here as well.

The guilty know who they are. Their behavior is not unique to the QOTD thread.

Also, eating my own dog food here, I am guilty of hijacking too. I would expect to get barked at just as well if I'm causing a problem.

it'd also be nice to see the actual question in the thread title so it's easier to find past questions without trying to remember the date.
Yes please! If the actual question is in the thread title, I don’t have to go back to the first page after a notification, to see what the question was.

But if you reply to the question then you will have it right there?

If you put the question in the title it’s going to look awfully cluttered, especially with “Question of the Day” and the date as well.
