It’s actually getting super hard to take pics of the chicks anymore lol they are so fast and can jump and fly pretty well. But I did take pics this week, so I’ll post some. Sorry I didn’t include their names this week, it’s been a little busy! The two oldest ones are about weeks now (paint NN and black satin silkie) and the others range in between 4-6 weeks. I NEED to get them outside in the brooder portion of my coop but the weather has been so cold. I think tomorrow because it is warming up a bit, I will put half of them outside with their heat pad and keep the littlest ones inside for a little longer.

Since the last update, I have moved the babies outside. I portioned off part of my enclosed covered run for them, and they have a portion of the coop that I built to be a brooder. Now I never planned on brooding 20 chicks in it So space is tight. But I am hoping that having tight space at night will help them to stay warm (there is great ventilation so I am not worried about that.)

The youngest chicks are 5 weeks old and the oldest ones are 7 weeks old. The temps were SO NICE here for the last week and a half, getting up to almost 70 degrees. But now they are creeping back down and I hope the babies do okay. It is going to be back down in the teens at night next week. They have a heat pad nest area that can fit all 20 of them, so I’m hoping that with that extra heat at night when they are cuddled up, they will be able to make it through the colder weather coming back.

I took some pics of them this morning, sorry I didn’t add their names! Many of them I have a good idea on gender but there are several that could go either way still. If you have any guesses feel free to share!

I’ll upload two batches of pictures because there are so many! 2 pics for each chick.

Also I think I forgot to get a pic of Figgy, one of the lavender cross chicks that I think is a girl. I’ll try to get some of her later.

More pics! The oldest 2 are now 8 weeks and the youngest ones are 6 weeks. It has been bitter cold here but the babies have been doing okay. Yesterday it was in the low teens for the low and stayed in the 20s most of the day. So I kept them in the small coop area, didn’t let them out into the run. But today it is nicer, above freezing so they are back out and happy. They still have heat pads at night (and freezing days like yesterday.)

Some of these guys I have a pretty good idea if they are boys or girls. Some of them I have flip flopped on though. Lol I question my judgement on several of them. On this thread I will post the ones I think are boys, then on the next post I will put the ones I think are girls.
