22 week old blue australorps

I know for sure picture 1 is male, but all of a sudden this week the subject of picture 2 started growing quite the comb and wattle - 22 week old blue australorps.

Thoughts?

I think that this is just a hen getting ready to lay, unless australorps lay late and I'm not aware of it.

It's rare but some dominant females do crow. At 22 weeks, gender specific feathering would be very prominent. That bird is a pullet.
