If you are lucky, it will be a lot like the "inspection" that I had to submit to in pursuing my permit. Our city allows 3 hands with no paperwork etc but to exceed the 3 you have to apply for what's called an animal facility license which essentially means you give the city 20 bucks a year and they let you do whatever you want within reaso.
It's actually a license set up for people who want to have kennels or other type of facilities, for which they are much more by the book, but it was the closest thing they could come up with for me when i wanted more than 3 chickens without having to come up with a whole new process. I think I'm the only person in town who's actually bothered to go through the process, but I was anticipating issues with neighbors as well as being a person that has always just followed the rules because those were the rules.
On the appointed day, the animal control officer came to my home and 1st thing out of his mouth was "I really know nothing about chickens this the 1st time I've ever looked at anything to do a chicken's." So, really, anything I told him was what he went with, lol. Ultimately, barring obvious cruel or neglectful I think it was more of a formality.....
