their age not your ageI was googling how long before my Australorps would lay (I know that I have a while cause they're so young) and noticed you never mentioned your age. Also, since this post is old, how old were they when they laid?
24 weeks and 1 day was when my Australorp began to lay! She's our best layer now. My two Easter Eggers started laying very soon after her, and now at nearly 7 months 3 out of my small flock of 4 are laying eggs regularly. My Speckled Sussex is my last holdout, lol. I have no idea when she will start to lay. I'm just going to set a goal of 'Spring' for her to start because I'm not sure if she'll lay this fall at this rate....I was googling how long before my Australorps would lay (I know that I have a while cause they're so young) and noticed you never mentioned your age. My first Australorp to lay was almost 5 1/2 months with the others following a couple weeks later. They layed pretty steadily through their first winter. My first Buff Orpington took 19 weeks.Only my Black Australorp is doing a serious squat -- wings spread and everything. I believe she is closest.
