23 ducklings in one clutch?!

Pics
I was born and raised in Florida and believe me there are huge snapping turtles. Some years back there was a video online showing a snapper pulling an adult duck under water. I couldn't watch the whole thing. Even here in the mountains of W NC we have huge snappers in the river down below us. We'll never know there are so many predators. The raccoons being one of the worst.

I went to you tube to look up snapping turtles and now I understand after seeing one pull a big duck underwater. I didn't know they were capable of that, but I even saw them attack birds and I too had to turn the video off. I know they have to eat too, but I don't want to see it. :(

Great news to report.....No one was eaten! I counted (and recounted) 19 today so the other day one of the little ones must have been off roaming around on it's own. I've noticed that they're scattering more and more away from Mama lately.
When she decides to move on after having her treats, some of the babies will stay and sit in the grass while she's hundreds of feet away. Here they are today. I managed to get them all in the same shot...all 19 still here and getting so big. :)

Just a week ago their little tails were just sprouting out and now they're nearly full size. I wonder where they all sleep at night and if the nest is starting to get a bit crowded with them all being so big.
My bunch now have a coop to themselves! Until some go to new homes, and I decide which one's I'm keeping. They're a couple of weeks younger than yours, I should get some comparison pics!

Are those the pretty colorful ones that was posted earlier in the thread? Can you post their pics again to see their progress? I'd love to see how much they've grown. I wish I had my own backyard to build a little coop for them because where I live the hoa would never allow it.

That is great they are all still there. And I bet you have helped them a lot by feeding them.

so precious too.
They're lucky little ducks because they get fed from the whole row of neighbors all along the pond. The lady a couple of doors down also knew the 19 count as well so it seems we're all keeping track of them lol. They got a good thing going here and they know it. :)
