23 gauge 1/4" HC VS Dog

No chickens were in the coop when she busted through as I'm still building it. Luckily, she decided to teach me after I had hung the first sheet of wire, too!

No animals were injured in the making of this post :)

If you look at the pic, the screw heads were not very big. Easily breached. Fender washers and/or sandwiching HC between frame and 1x3 might do the trick. Seeing she already has the 23g, might as well try and make it work.
Yeah, but the mesh was torn(it didn't pop off the screws) I had to zoom way in to see it.

Exactly my point. It was easily ripped out because there was nothing holding it. Once the first strand failed, the others followed because there was plenty of slack.

Granted 19g would be stronger, but I think that would have failed if fastened the same way.

Progress pics with the heavier wire.

Looking good. The 1x3 should really do the trick.
I agree with @mowin this would be your best bet with thinner material.
If this don’t work run an electric wire around. I will bet your dog will get the hint after the first try. Yep just ask my dog!🤣 I know it’s not really funny but I couldn’t help but laugh. He ran yelping all the way back to the house!! Never seen him run so fast!
