23 Week Black Copper Maran- Not laying

I have a 23 week old black copper Maran who has not laid an egg yet. Is this normal? I have a mixed flock of 6. Three, 3 year old hens, 2 18 weeks pullets (turken and brahma) also not laying.

As long as she appears healthy and is eating and acting normally this is perfectly normal. Marans can be 8 to 9 months before they start laying but the eggs will be worth it!

One of the older girls is currently molting!

There you go! When they molt they can stop laying for a month or even longer. It is the season, mine just finished moulting as well. I thought she wasn’t laying still until I found five eggs hidden in the coop

BCMs are not prolific layers anyhow, and a little slower to mature, so patience is key.
